THE CHALLENGE

SHD required an internal partitioning solution to create effective separation between different engineering activities within their facility.

The site is used for the manufacture and assembly of machinery, with welding and grinding activities taking place alongside assembly and commissioning work. SHD needed to prevent dust and contamination generated within the welding and grinding areas from transferring into the cleaner assembly section, particularly when newly built machinery was being commissioned.

The solution therefore needed to clearly segregate these processes while allowing the different engineering activities to continue operating efficiently with minimal disruption.

THE SOLUTION

Our Durascreen^® Flexible Partitioning System was installed to separate the assembly area from the welding and grinding sections of the facility.

Features included to meet specific needs:

• Bespoke internal partition designed to separate cleaner assembly operations from welding and grinding activities.
• V-join system is used to connect the partition sections and maintain a secure and consistent enclosure.
• Insulated finishing at high level to provide a more complete separation between the divided areas.
• PVC vision panels incorporated at high level to maximise the flow of natural light between work areas.
• Zip access panel incorporated to provide occasional access for the movement of large machinery, equipment and plant between partitioned areas when required, while keeping the partition closed during normal operations.
• Steel sliding door provided easy access for personnel and equipment while making efficient use of the available space.
